About Mexican catering in the Isle of Wight
With mobile Mexican catering, we bring the kitchen with us: we park our truck or trailer on site and serve hot food from it. You do not need a kitchen at the venue. It suits engagement and anniversary parties and milestone birthdays, serving a build-your-own taco bar, fresh salsas and guacamole and quesadillas.
The truck or trailer tends to draw a crowd, so we’ll help you choose a spot with room for a queue. We can serve in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered.
- First, send us a few details about your event.
- You get a sample menu and a quote.
- We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
- We arrive, set up and serve from the hatch.
- Once service ends, we clear away.

Local landmarks in Newport
Your event could be close to Castle Inn, The Man in the Moon and Seaclose Park, among other places. Also close by are Christ The King College (0.6 miles south-west), Island Innovation VI Form Campus (less than half a mile south-east) and Nine Acres Primary School (less than half a mile south). Well-known places in the area include Carisbrooke Castle (1 mile south-west) and St Mary's Hospital (0.8 miles north). Open spaces near Newport include Briddlesford Nature Reserve and Mill Hill.
Planning a food truck in the Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight covers everything from Newport, Ryde and Cowes to 102 small villages and hamlets, and a food truck or trailer can work in all of them, given access. In towns, plan parking and loading; in villages, tell us about lanes, gates and ground. 116 of the places we cover in the Isle of Wight are within about 6 miles of the sea, so we often plan around the wind at coastal events, and seafront spots need permission and firm ground for the truck or trailer.
Newport: Close to Newport are historic houses such as Carisbrooke Castle (1 mile south-west) and Gatcombe House (2.5 miles south). Venues like these often limit where vehicles can go, so ask about access before you book one. If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Nine Acres Primary School, a taco truck can be a crowd-pleaser. Around midsummer it stays light in Newport until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

How it compares

DIY taco night versus a caterer
Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.
You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.
Questions from the Isle of Wight
How long do you serve for?
We arrive in good time to set up before service. The length of service is agreed when you book, along with pack-down.
Is the food made fresh?
Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.
Can you cater for special diets?
We can. We plan vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. Allergen information is available for every dish.
Is the food very hot?
It’s up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.
Can you serve drinks as well?
We can. Our Mexican drinks bar serves margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. We’ll talk licensing through with you.
Can you run a bar?
Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we will talk licensing through with you.
