Your questions about Mexican catering in Yorkletts

Can you serve near the sea around Yorkletts?

We can, given firm ground and the landowner’s permission. Beaches and promenades generally need the council’s agreement, so check that first.

Do you cater in villages like Yorkletts?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down and leave our area tidy. Let us know the venue’s rules on waste and we will confirm the arrangements with your quote.

How spicy is the food?

It is up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.

Do you give allergen information?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t normally stop service from the truck or trailer. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

Ask us when you enquire. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Mexican catering in Yorkletts, from our truck or trailer

Truck and trailer service normally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case, so let us know how many you expect. Popular choices include loaded nachos, a build-your-own taco bar and burritos, which works well for charity and school events and big birthday celebrations.

In a small place like Yorkletts, events are generally in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we will plan for them, and firm ground matters, especially after rain. We will check the space, access and power with you before the day, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Our caterer checklist

How it works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, get the serving area ready, and get on with serving. Around midsummer it stays light in Yorkletts until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. We serve hot food from our truck or trailer at the agreed time.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

How it compares

A plated meal needs a kitchen and a larger team. A food truck or trailer is its own kitchen, so we need a suitable spot, access and the venue’s permission, with power and water confirmed when you book. What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What we offer in Yorkletts

Taco catering in Yorkletts: local tips

Yorkletts is about 2 miles south-west of Whitstable, in Kent. Across the CT5 area, we can serve your guests, as long as there is access. Yorkletts is one of 922 places in Kent where we can bring Mexican catering.

If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like St Alphege, a truck or trailer parked at a hall or garden close by can serve the meal. A school such as The Whitstable School running a summer fair or fundraiser could book a taco truck. The coast is within about 3 miles of Yorkletts, so for a seaside event we plan around the wind. The truck or trailer needs firm ground rather than sand or shingle, and seafront spots generally need permission from the council or landowner.

For Mexican catering in CT5, we plan around your venue and the route in and your guests. Streets in the area include Ford Walk, Glen Walk and Coombe Walk, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. For events just outside Yorkletts, we cover Denstroude (1 mile south-east), Honey Hill (2 miles south-east), Whitstable (2 miles north-east), Blean (2 miles south-east) and Radfall (3 miles east). Within a short drive, we also cover Ashford (14 miles south-west), Canterbury (5 miles south-east), Sittingbourne (12 miles west), Faversham (5 miles west), Herne Bay (6 miles north-east) and Minster (11 miles north-west).

A little further out are Tankerton Castle (2.9 miles north-east) and Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital (3.2 miles north-east). Not far away are Blean Woods RSPB Reserve.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Where the truck can go in Yorkletts

If a space isn’t suitable, we’ll tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Details of power and water on site, agreed when you book
  • Space for a taco-bar table if you’ve chosen one
  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before booking.

How we price Mexican catering

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • What’s on the menu
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • How long we are needed on site
  • Distance and access to the venue

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Your quote confirms the full price.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Where the event is
  • Expected numbers
  • A photo of the space, if it is a garden or field

Still deciding on the menu? That is fine: give us the basics about your event, and we will suggest a menu. When you’re ready, drop us a line using the enquiry form.
