Mexican catering in Ovingdean

Mexican catering in Ovingdean, served fresh

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance and kept hot on site, while the salsas and guacamole are made fresh. We warm the tortillas as each order goes out. It suits anniversaries and engagements and family celebrations, with burrito bowls, loaded nachos and tacos.

For a rural spot like Ovingdean, fields and drives need a little planning: gate widths, soft ground and the distance from the road all matter. We confirm power and water arrangements with you before the day. Food and drinks can be booked together or separately, so the food and drinks can come from one caterer.

Step by step

Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. A December event in Ovingdean will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:15pm.

  1. It begins with the basics: your date, venue, guest numbers and dietary needs.
  2. We put together a menu around your guests and quote for it.
  3. We check access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. After service, we clear away and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Tell us when you want service to start
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough

For event organisers in Ovingdean

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Mexican catering or something else?

Pizza and burger vans are familiar choices. Tacos, burritos and nachos feel a little different, while still being easy food most people enjoy. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

Catering for every guest

Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included. To get it right:

  • Collect dietary needs when guests reply
  • Tell us about coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Count children separately
  • Send allergy details to us in writing

On the day, we arrive in good time to park up and get ready. Someone from the venue just needs to point us to the agreed spot.

Ask about extra salsas and toppings for a bigger spread.

Planning the serving area

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Room for a queue in front of the serving hatch
  • A spot for a taco-bar serving table
  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Planning a food truck in Ovingdean

Ovingdean is about 3 miles south-east of Hanover, in Brighton and Hove. Whether your event is in the middle of Ovingdean or on the outskirts, Mexican catering works the same way: fresh service from our truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. Ovingdean is one of 30 towns and villages in Brighton and Hove we cover.

A school such as Ovingdean Hall School running a summer fair or fundraiser could book a taco truck. Guests leaving a church like St Wulfran's Church after a christening could walk over to a nearby garden where the tacos are ready. Venues in and around the South Downs National Park, within about 6 miles of Ovingdean, sometimes limit where vehicles can go. Ask yours about access for a truck or trailer before booking. With the sea within about 3 miles, a beach-side event might appeal. Promenades and beaches generally need permission, and the truck or trailer has to park on firm ground, not sand.

Mexican catering in BN2 is planned around your venue and access. Whether your event is on Longhill Road, Ovingdean Road and Wanderdown Road or anywhere nearby, we’ll plan where to park and serve. Close by, we cover events in Rottingdean (1 mile east), Roedean (1 mile west), Saltdean (2 miles south-east), East Saltdean (2 miles south-east) and Telscombe (3 miles east). Within a short drive, we also cover Brighton (3 miles north-west), Brighton and Hove (5 miles west), Hove (4 miles west), Carlton Hill (3 miles west), Hanover (3 miles north-west) and West Hill (3 miles west).

Nearby you will also find Brighton Motor Museum (1.9 miles west) and French Convalescent Home (1.5 miles west). The countryside around Ovingdean includes Newmarket Hill and Beacon Hill Local Nature Reserve.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

Common questions in Ovingdean

How far is Ovingdean from London?

It’s about 47 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Do you cater in villages like Ovingdean?

Yes, small places are no problem, given access. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Do you need power and water?

Tell us what the site has, such as a supply from the venue near where we will park, and we will confirm what we need with your quote.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we will advise.

What do you serve?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings might include slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga, beef birria and vegan options such as spiced mushrooms or black beans. See our menu for ideas.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we’ll plan the menu around them.

Can you cater for special diets?

Diets are planned in advance, with options kept separate, but we can’t promise a kitchen without traces of any allergen. Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us first.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we do. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own. We’ll check the licensing for alcohol with you.
