About our Mexican catering in West Hill

Taco catering in West Hill is what we do best. Few things get guests chatting like a build-your-own taco bar. Everyone builds their own tacos from what’s laid out, so each plate is exactly how they like it. It works well for school fairs and fundraisers and family gatherings and christenings, serving quesadillas, burritos and loaded nachos.

In and around West Hill, gardens and local halls are common choices. If access is tight or the ground is soft, we will plan around it. You’ll know what’s included before you book: menu, timings and any add-ons.

Catering an event in West Hill

West Hill is about 1 mile west of Brighton, in Brighton and Hove. For Mexican catering in West Hill, we plan around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and fresh service on the day. We cater in all 30 towns and villages across Brighton and Hove.

By road, West Hill is on or near the A2010, which makes it easy for us to reach with the truck or trailer. Guests leaving a church like Galeed Strict Baptist Chapel after a christening could walk over to a nearby garden where the tacos are ready. Venues in and around the South Downs National Park, within about 7 miles of West Hill, sometimes limit where vehicles can go. Ask yours about access for a truck or trailer before you book. Coastal events near West Hill, which is within about a mile of the sea, bring wind and sand into the planning. Tell us exactly where you’d like us and we’ll check access.

We serve at events all over BN1, BN3 and BN2 and the streets around it. Streets in the area include Powis Road, North Road and York Avenue, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. Being close to the A2010, West Hill is simple for us to get to. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Seven Dials (1 mile north-west), Brunswick (1 mile south-west), Prestonville (1 mile north-west), Brighton (1 mile east) and Carlton Hill (1 mile south-east). Within a short drive, we also cover Hangleton (3 miles north-west), Saltdean (5 miles east), East Saltdean (5 miles east), Rottingdean (4 miles east) and Ovingdean (3 miles east). West Hill is among the bigger towns we cover in Brighton and Hove, with plenty of venues for events.

Nearby you will also find Churchill Square (0.5 miles south) and Montefiore Hospital (0.5 miles west). Green spaces nearby include Whitehawk Hill and Newmarket Hill.

  • Nearby schools include Brighton Girls (less than half a mile west) and Academy of Creative Training (0.9 miles south-east)

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Our taco bar guide explains how.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Space, access and the venue

Everything is served from our truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Some distance from houses and neighbours

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before booking.

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, tacos make vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to cater for, because fillings and toppings are kept separate. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Our quote sets out what’s included.

Why book with us

  • Set-up planned with you and your venue
  • Menus chosen with you
  • Served fresh from our food truck or trailer
  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both

Take a look at our prices page and the cost guide.

How the day works

When we arrive, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we have agreed, planned around your event. Around midsummer it stays light in West Hill until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. We serve hot food from our truck or trailer at the agreed time.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

FAQs for West Hill

Do you come to events in the South Downs National Park?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Galeed Strict Baptist Chapel?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Can you keep it mild?

We can keep it mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Where do you cater?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire.

Can you serve drinks as well?

You can add our drinks bar, with bar staff serving margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. Alcohol needs the right licence, so we will check that with you.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

Can you set up at our venue?

Level, firm ground, access for the truck or trailer and the venue’s agreement. We confirm power and water when you book.

Can you cater in a back garden?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we will advise.

Prices and what affects them

We will give you a clear quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • The length of service
  • How many guests we are serving
  • Parking and the route in
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and price, we need:

  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Expected numbers
  • The address or venue name
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground

Not sure what you need yet? No problem: give us the basics about your event, and we’ll suggest a menu. When you’re ready, fill in our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains
  • Check that your venue allows outside caterers and vehicles
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Tell us what other food is being served

We have allergen information for every dish at the hatch, so guests can check before they order.

Loaded nachos make a good sharing starter or as a late snack.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
